iPhone's 4 Hardware Changes That Came Before Android

Apple's reputation in 2023 is for being late to adopt trends, like USB-C. However, in the past, iPhones were trailblazers, setting industry standards ahead of Android.

The iPhone had a significant head start, launching in June 2007, over a year before the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream), in September 2008.

The original iPhone featured Corning's Gorilla Glass, making it resistant to scratches. In contrast, many early Android phones used plastic screens.

The iPhone 14 models are the first in the U.S. to remove physical SIM card slots, pushing carriers to promote eSIM adoption, which users can install via carrier apps.

iPhone used to lead in hardware, but now features like always-on displays, multiple cameras, 5G, and wireless charging are common in Android. It's uncertain where iPhone will innovate next.
